MG MGA - 'Bowman' hose clamps
I have a can full of the above clamps, 'Sure-Tite' stamped. I'm not familiar with them, anyone know if they are for the A's or are even British made ? Brad |

Brad I have seen these before but they are rare I think. I tried to do a Google search but nothing came up which means to me they are old but no details that I can find. Maybe there is someone that knows more details or can do a better search for you, I am limited, sorry. Are they stainless steel bands or formed wire? FOG |

Most of the hose clamps on the MGA were the simple wire type with a r/h slotted tightening screw (see type 1 in picture which is an original petrol filler hose clamp.) Type 2 is a repro. of the original heater hose clamps. Type 3 is also a repro. of the rocker box breather hose clamp and lastly no. 4 is a British 'Jubilee' type clip which, as far as I know, was never used on the MGA. Odd this because they were invented many years before the MGA came out: perhaps they were too pricey for BMC. There is a fourth type of MGA hose clip on the 4" air intake hoses but I don't have a spare one to photograph. I don't think Bowman clips, whatever they look like, are British...................Mike ![]() |

I found a Bowman Products Division 850 East 72nd Street Cleveland, OH 44103 of Associated Spring Corporation. They used to manufacture replacement parts for cars/trucks. Here's a link to a Bowman display rack for hose clamps: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/bowman-hose-clamp-storage-advertising-220717655 Here's a link with some business info: http://www.trademarkia.com/bowman-71521792.html See no references to "Sure-Tite" however. |

Hi Mike I am looking for some heater hose clip as your type 2 in your post. I have 2 original clips but they are very rusty. Can you tell me where these can be purchased and the part number if possible. Thanks Brian |

Brian, I bought mine three years ago from Todd Clarke. His number is F34a and I think this is the set of four. He does all the correct hose clips except for the 4" hose clips which are a bit non-original. His catalogue is online now............... Mike |
