MG MGA - Carpets-quick question
Hi, Originally, did the footwell section of carpet have 'lift the dot' fasteners either side of the raised sections of chassis frame? Cheers, Phil |

Hi Phil, not an answer to your question I just wondered if you knew if you were still in contact with Steve and how he was, I bought he MGA if you remember regards Gordon |

There are LTD studs on the toe board plate between the goalposts, but I have also put fixings on the floor mats directly in front of the seats to stop the carpets slipping. Not LTD but black triangular fittings that cam with a huge box of MG stuff I was given. |

Phil, not standard I know but I used these press-stud type fasteners for my carpets. http://tinyurl.com/chwa3b5 They are the sort that were used on the ZA and ZB Magnettes and, unlike the 'Lift-the-dot', are invisible. Worth considering unless you are a purist! |

Phil When I rebuilt my car I copied what I believe were the original wooden floor panels, including the LTD positions. The layout of my LTDs is shown in the diagram. Steve ![]() |

Phil, What's left of my original footboards had the same LTD layout that Steve shows, with the addition of one more immediately on the foreside of the frame rail cutouts. This is what the Moss kit instructions indicate, as well as the floorboard templates on Barney's site. So there are three LTD screw studs on each of the rear floorboards, three on each of the front floorboards for a total of 12, and two LTD threaded-stem-and-nut studs at the tops of each of the carpet pieces covering the toeboards, for a total of four. hi, and what about the carpet under the seat, was it also fitted with LTD, if so what about the seat rails, where they cut out te remove the carpet, or was this piece of carpet glued in place ? serge |

Serge My seat rails bolt through the carpet - that is they sit on top of the carpet. My carpet also extends a good way forward under the front carpet such that the Lift A Dot anchor studs at the rear of the front carpet screw through it. I guess I could have trimmed the seat rail carpet back a bit to clear that stud and allow more penetration of the screw into the wood. It would be interesting to learn what others have done. Steve |
