MG MGA - Caster wedges

Hi. Do the caster adjustment wedges for MGBs work on the MGA?
Thanks
s page

Frontline Developments sell them for the MGB, so, because the two cars have such similar front suspension, I presume that they will work on an MGA also?
I stand to be corrected on this!

(available from Moss also)

Brown and Gammons make their own version too.

Interesting - I learn every day!
I had never heard of caster adjustment wedges but have now read the link Colyn posted.
Am I right in thinking the piurpose is to lighten the steering? Any downsides, and how difficult is the job for an idiot like me?
Thanks

No no no no no--
Ok they make them for MGBs, why is beyond me Mgbs steer quite well and the castor wedges are supposed to lighten the steering---why, they're quite ok as they are and if you reduce the castor which is designed to help keep the car tracking straight, you'll find that at highway speed and faster it'll cause the car to wander about----i hate them and the whole idea of them,
Then using them you have to shim the steering rack to get it realigned to the column otherwise the steering goes stiff
MGBs have the front cross member bolted in and the shims go in between the crossmember and the body

FORTUNATELY with an MGA the crossmember is an integral part of the chassis and said castor wedges can't be fitted to an MGA saving them from being stuffed up like the MGBs that have had them fitted
Just in case you haven't caught on yet they're never going on my shopping list---ever, and i wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

Thanks for explaining that William, I can see now that they wouldn't fit an MGA.

Also, I am really happy with my electric power steering conversion and if anyone is looking at making the steering lighter, I would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for that input Willy. I will cross it off my Christmas list

Ah Graham - Christmas list eh.
Best present for your MGA for Christmas would be a full tank of fuel and just get out and drive him about.
For me, chocolate's always a winner, thanks.--------lol
Sorry if I was a bit harsh on the castor wedges, but if you get to drive a B with them fitted you'll understand, you just loose all the feel of wanting to go in a straight line at any sort of decent speed and the self centering after rounding a bend is drastically reduced--they just take the nice hooked up feeling away and you feel like you have to stay on top of the steering all the time.
