MG MGA - Coil bracket placement
So I’m finally putting the radiator back in and am trying to replace the fan belt. The generator will not drop down fully because of the placement of the coil bracket. The bracket has a flange that hits the block. Is there a special way to position the coil? Any tips or tricks? The old belt looks ok but is at least 8 years old and was installed a little tight by the previous owner so I am replacing due to age. Any suggestions? Dave |

David, You say: The bracket has a flange that hits the block. Remove the bracket, fit the belt and refit. I assume your car is a 1500 with the coil mounted on the generator. Barry. |

David, Rotate the bracket so the coil is outboard of the generator, i.e., not on the top of the generator. The flange then clears the block. Peter. |

Peter, By "outboard" do you mean to the side? |

Yes, at about 35 to 40 degrees. Peter. |
