MG MGA - Correct LJ225 for Late MGA
There is a correct Shelley LJ225 on UK Ebay for late cars (post chassis 93548). Ebay No. 371129927059 No vested interest. Expect to pay between £80 and £150 depending on interest. One bid, currently £49.99. They don't come up at that often, although this will be the 3rd this year on the UK site. The other two went for £62.30 and £100. Steve |

Currently up to £73.00 The other LJ225 jack variant which has a 'droop snout' continues to get great prices. It seems many people believe it is for the MGA/Austin Healey purely because it is labelled LJ225. In fact it was one of the jacks issued with the Austin/Morris Mini. One sold recently for £513.43. I must think about selling mine at that sort of stupid price. Steve |

I've still got mine too Steve - pic attached. At those kind of prices, anybody want to make a sensible offer and collect it? Nothing ventured... Pete ![]() |

Hi Gordon, I managed to get most of the MGA toolkit together - except possibly a correct jack and an original tool wallet. I have some box spanners but not original. Are you going to get back to an MGA? - cheers Cam |

Pete I have just noticed something unusual about your droop snout LJ225. The outer screw seems to be fully wound down. If you look at my droop snout (attached) you will see that 1.25" of the screw remains extended in the fully down position. It is for that reason that this version is not suitable for the MGA as it will not fit under the MGA axle that has a deflated tyre. I note that your version has the strengthening gusset on top of the winder. I wonder if they also altered the length of the screw and the design of the screw collar assembly at the same time? Anyone else got Pete's LJ225 variant to compare notes? Pete, can you just confirm for me that it is a dual screw and not triple? Steve ![]() |

Hi Steve - You're very good you know..! It is a dual screw type. I once had a flat front tyre on the "A" and, as you say, the unmodified jack as you describe wouldn't go under the wishbone. So I had a careful look and decided this thing could be suitably modified and then applied hacksaw, file and hammer. So this one works just fine under an "A" now... Pete |

Hi Cam, box spanners have found a new home I'm afraid, I recently got a tool bag from Iny Point and it appears very good all too expensive for me these days I'm afraid I shall have to make do with my last tool kit and a couple of Revell models lol cheers Gordon |

Hi Cam not sure if was Iny Point or whatever they are called but here is the ebay link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGA-tool-roll-bag-original-pattern-hessian-backed/261492629219?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Dc7a9097cedfe4f999dcc63cf3a1c36e1%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D20131017132637%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D261492629219 |

£250 with 4 hours to go... Shane |

£360 final. start selling, chaps! Shane |

Shane That's the highest price I have seen paid for the correct (MGA) LJ225 since I started monitoring prices back in 2008. It's still a long way short of the more common and incorrect (for the MGA/Healey) jack shown in the photos above. One sold last week for £420 and I also mentioned above of another going for £513. I must get round to try and find out from the vendors why the buyers are paying these huge prices for an Austin Mini jack when they come up so frequently on Ebay. Steve |
