MG MGA - Coupe door top edge

Does anyone who has recently dismantled or rebuilt a coupe door have a photo of the top surface of the door? (with the window frame removed) The ravages of the PO and time have produced a mess in this area of both my coupe doors, and I need to see what they should be like.
My doors also have some small peices rivetted on the top horizontal edges. Is this original, or an attempt to repair the doors?
Lastly, the factory workshop manual says "Extract the screw securing the wooden glass stop to the top rear inner face of the door". (secton S.15, page S.10) Since wood was the first material to disappear from this car, can anyone shed some light on where this wood should be, and what it looks like? (size, location, and a drg with dimensions would be helpful)
Thanks, Peter.

Hi Peter,

Not certain what the reference to the wood corresponds to. However, the piece riveted to the top leading edge, under where the vent glass is situation, is as it should be and not a poor attempt at a repair. The door "cap" is wooden and required the removal of a screw? Is this what they are refering to? Good luck! Cheers!

Peter,
Are you looking for photos (top surface with windows removed) of the door skin or the door trim? Here's a shot of the bare door. I'll post one more.

Cheers,
Gerry

Hi Peter, I have a spare RH coupe door in my garage so will take some photos tomorrow and email them to you directly.

Robert is correct about the riveted aluminum cap pieces. There are 2 of them one at the front (one rivet) and one at the rear (2 rivets).

I have no idea what the Manual is talking about "extract the screw from the wooden glass stop", I don't remember anything like that on my doors which were original and unmolested when I took them apart. The only glass stop is on the bottom inside of the door and it's a felt pad which I replaced with rubber. I read the rest of Section S.15 and it's correct except for that part. The only wooden part is the top capping which is attached by 2 screws on brackets and one small screw at top front by the quarter light. I also left the quarter lights in the frame when I removed the window and frame as a unit, you don't have to remove them per S.15.

Thanks Gerry - good photo (the first one). Is that five rivets (4 on the horizontal area, and 1 up front) in the front area (under the quarter light), and another 2 at the rear top edge of the door(under the chromed pyramid trim peice which is around the window frame)?
It seems that I have a chunk of the horizontal area missing from my door! And this is going to be a challenge to fix.
I didn't find a wooden glass stop either, so maybe this was left off later cars. I don't think the wooden door trim piece is a glass stop.

Peter,
There are 4 rivets at the front and 2 at the rear. This photo shows it better. I'll post a second of the rear.
Cheers,
Gerry

Thanks Gerry.
I have just discovered this weekend that I, like your door pictured, was missing a small square piece of aluminium trim at the very front of the top of the door. (piee about 3/4 square) This is held with one rivet. You have the hole for it in you door.
I got these two pieces (left and right) from a kind friend in Lynden, Washington, who has a parts car to complete my jigsaw puzzle! The purpose of this pce is to cover the small gap at the door edge.
Peter.
