MG MGA - Coupe Kick Panel installation
How many screws are used for the front and rear kick panels on the coupe? Thanks! |

I'll need to split this up into two posts. Take a look at the 4 photos in total. The front panels appear to have 6 screws while the rear have 4. Pics were from coupes that were listed as properly restored to original condition. A couple of caveats: 1.) Map pockets at the front could alter attachment points and, 2.) Do look to find other photos or wait for more comments, Good luck! ![]() ![]() |

Nick Your last picture is my 1600 Coupe with seat belts fitted. This required some adjustment of the panels so it is not a good example for purists. Suits me, though. Cheers Dave |

Dave, if it works, it works! I was a bit surprised how little info there was on this topic, and most photos of properly restored cars rarely show either of the kick panels in a coupe; seems most attention is always on coupe door cards & cockpit rails and as roadsters outnumber coupes, more attention is placed on roadster standards as well. Perhaps a few other coupe owners will chime in to help clarify the topic. |

Hi Nick It’s further complicated because the Coupe rear trim changed between the 1500s and 1600s, and later variants. Cheers Dave |

Thanks Nick. |

Here are some pictures of my Coupe during restoration. I matched the number and location of the screws that were in my original interior. I’m not at home right now but I can check when I get home on Monday to see if there are any screws not visible in my pictures. Jim ![]() ![]() |

Jim, thanks for those, great help. |

I’m back home now. I looked in the Service Parts List and found that there are 30 screws and 30 cup washers for fastening the Coupe kick panels and door panels to the body. There are 5 for each front panel, 2 for each rear panel and 8 for each door panel. This matches what I found on my original panels when I disassembled my car for restoration.
Here are pictures of one of my original front panels and one of my original rear panels. I’ll post another message to include pictures of my new front and rear panels. Hope this helps. Jim ![]() ![]() |
