MG MGA - Coupe window channels

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of the felt channel to fit an MGA Coupe? I tried a "B" channel but it was too tight.
I understand there is a maker in the UK who has a wide selection, and can make to fit also. Have not been successful with my Google search in finding this manufacturer, so hope someone knows them.
They probably make the Furflex for the dors as well.
Thanks, Peter.

Try MacGregor British Car Parts in Ontario (he has a web site).

Try this company, they have an online catalogue and are very helpful by telephone.http://www.coh-baines.co.uk/
I think the felt suitable for MGA window channnels is on pg 92

Peter I bought my window felt from SF and don't like it much. It doesn't fit very well, in fact it's just a flat piece of felt that you insert into the window frame. The glass rattles against the window frame in several places, I would not recommend it.

When you find some correct stuff please let me know so that I can replace mine.

Thanks

Yes Andy, that was what Cecilia told me people do, and frankly the original felt was proably flat and glued like that (It was in my window frames). With modern materials there must be a better alternative.
John - I looked at the MacGregor site but without illustrations or photos how do you know what you are buying? And I suspect he gets his stuff from the UK. I'll try Woolies, and thanks Tony -I'll look at Baines.
By the way Andy, did you find that the glazing rubber SF supplied was too thick for the quarter light glass?
Peter.

Peter, I've been thinking about the window felt and it may be my fault that mine moves around because I didn't glue it in place. So when the window moves up and down it moves to the uncompressed side of the frame and is pushed out slightly. If it is glued in place it might work satisfactorly. I remember that the original one was glued in place. I'm not going to pull out my windows and try it until I hear back from you. It's too hard.

I can't remember where I got the glazing rubber for the quarter lights from, but it was probably SF. I remeber that I got 2 different thickenesses for some reason. Perhaps the thicker one was for the main window. The thinner one was perfect and measures 3/64" (1.46 mm)thick x 1.5" wide. It fitted the window perfect. I used my Black and Decker workmate to squeeze the glass into the frame.

I also used the same rubber for making gaskets for the door handles and key lock.

Hello Coupe restorers,

when I did mine I was searching for ages as didn't want to fit the original flat felt.
Finally I found the right thing but had to buy
a whole drum of 50 meters. it needed a little work until it fits over the small screws. still in my basement, 20 euros plus shipping from Germany a set for two doors.

Hey Andy, can you describe what the door handle gaskets look like. I assumed there were gaskets there, but my car didn't have them when I took it apart, and I haven't found anything in parts books etc.

Thanks, George

I have a roadster not a coupe so I can't speak for Coupe parts but I can speak for the quality of the parts that I have purchased from MacGregor. They have all been consistently high quality and fit perfectly every time.
Keith Lowman

George, I used the door handle as the template. I first cut out the rectangular hole so that the rubber fit up to the back of the handle base plate and then traced around the outside of the base plate and cut it out. When it's on the car you only see the thin rubber gasket between the handle and the door skin.
