MG MGA - dash

I am in the process of restoring a 59 coupe. I like the looks of the wood dash. All the items I have seen says for roadsters only. Is the a source for the coupe?

Also I would like to paint it Autumn Red. Is that color still avaiable?
Thanks for your help

You could use a roadster wood dash in the Coupe. Otherwise the Coupe dash is not flat, and I have never seen a wood dash for the Coupe, so I suppose you would have to improvise and make your own.

S.A., I need a coupe dash for my '59 restoration. If you decide to install a wood dash, would you be interested in selling the original dash?

Thanks, George

George, here is a long shot- Call here http://www.jacksautoranch.com/frame.htm and ask if they still have this car and if the dash is still in it.The last time I saw it there was not much left. They called it a "racing" MG with a hard top. I got the doors, trunk lid and other misc parts.

Thanks Gary, I'll follow up that lead.

George:

A friend of mine has a coupe dash that I gave him a long time ago . . . if you like I'll ask what he wants for it since he does not have a coupe.

Thanks John, I'd be interested if he wants to sell it. I can be contacted at <gag@aps.anl.gov>

I had the steel dash and door trims from an old Studebaker 'faux woodgrained', that is, painted on as they were originally and it is undetectable to the eye (mine at least)from timber. Also you can have some very exotic grains, and in the case of the MG would avoid some of the presumed problems associated with remounting everything. I have seen an MG given this treatment. Based on my experience I would expect it to cost around $400.

I suspect, if you want to go down this route, wood grained vinal could be found and used to cover the original dash. Coupe dashes were always covered anyway.
