MG MGA - disc Brake Caliper Bolts
Would someone have the detailed specifications (measurements) for the two major bolts holding the brake caliper togeather. I know they are high strength, but what length / diameter / thread size etc. Thank you |

Hi Gordon Are you talking about MBN0512 as per parts list? (you can see the parts list on Dominic Clancy's very useful site) If so, from what I can see it seems to have been superceded by F509FB which is 5/16" UNF x 1 1/2" Graham |

Gord - don't you have the old ones? |
Art Pearse |
Yes I do but everybody says not to re-use the old ones. I was just trying to see if the local bearing/ bolt shop could supply new ones for less than other suppliers. BTW is it safe to re-use the bolts or is it the same misconception that you should not split open Mga disc calipers for a rebuild? |
Gordon Harrison |
Its OK to re-use as long as the threads are OK. |

Thanks Art |

I refurbished mine using MGB stainless caliper pistons with a new seal between the two halves and the original bolts. No problems.(so far) |
