MG MGA - distracted driver

From the paper today:
a person driving a Bugatti Veyron along a salt marsh near Houston Texas was distracted by a low flying pelican, dropped his cell phone, and when he bent over to pick it up he drove off the road into the salt marsh. Salted Bugatti, a very expensive hors d'oeuvre.

driving and using a cell phone is illegal in UK ( but many still do it!) - good job it was just a salt marsh and not an MG coming the other way!!

It's illegal in most States in the US as well...doesn't seem to stop em. What I really love are the people who text message (also illegal) while driving. Maybe more air bags is the answer...

Well it was definitely a Veyron being towed out of the marsh so no hoax there, are you saying he drove it in there on purpose? Expensive way to get attention Gordon....but there are some strange people about!

Looks like a stunt to me.
What are the chances of someone being there to film it perfectly before, during, and after the event. It would take a lot of prior arrangement to have it in the center of the camera view during the whole incident.
I think that the insurance company will be having a close look at it, especially if the premium was payed by installments and only one payment made.
What people do for their five minutes of fame on television or the Internet.
