READ THIS FROM THE BOTTOM UP. If you know this gentleman please let me know. Gordon ______________________________________________________ Thanks for the mail. I will let you have the pieces for a $200. What's your complete shipping address? I will e-mail to you information with which you will have to make payment via Western union as my asking price includes postage cost Thanks Peter ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ Are we sure we are talking about the right piece. I DO NOT need the "COMPLETE" chrome window surround but just the piece that creates the joint bewteen the two pieces. It is about one inch long.. I DO NOT need it to be shipped by next day UPS shipping. If we are talking about the correct piece, I must let you know that when 100 GBP is converted to Canadain money you are asking $180.00 plus app $90.00 in brokerage fees. Total $270.00 . Please break down the price .....for the piece only....without shipping. Thank you. Gordon _____________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ Thanks for the mail. Gordon, I would be very cautious if I were you. Ask him for a picture of the item or, if he hasn't got a camera ask him to give you some dimensions. You could say you have a friend who lives not too far away and he would be prepared to inspect it for you to check condition. Mike |

By his command of English, I would guess he's from Nigeria. |

Gordon Sounds a bit suspicious to me - I am told that Western union is used by "suspects" as the money can not be reimbursed if there is a problem Paul |

I think you will find it is a scam. The phone number is a giveaway. It is a premium rate number that is set up to fleece you. A search on the internet brought up this comment and there were plenty similar. Phone numbers that start 0702 or 0703 in the United Kingdom (country code 44 such that they would be something like XXX-44-702 or XXX-44-703 in the US) are premium rate numbers that forward onto another phone. So these people are trying to get you to call them so that they can waste your time whilst you are paying them money through the expensive phone charges. Steve |

I knew it wasn't right but was checking the United Kingdom Expert Detective Service. As always you guys are the best. Now I can have some fun with these guys. Althought by now they have read this post and "fled the coupe". Gordon |

Gordon I think you can get that part from Todd Clark. Good luck, Barry |

Boy I agree Gordon.Back when I did mine some one was reproducing that part, not sure who,but check with Todd. If not him he might know who |

The post code is central London - Old Kent Road - and doesn't seem like a private address either - caveat emptor!! |
Cam Cunningham |
Cam That is what I was looking at, then I spotted the unusual phone number - hence my post. Interestingly, the map position given on Google maps is right next door to 'Nile Terrace'. Now there is your African connection!!!!!! Steve |

Gordon, I had a similar experience, I had posted a wanted ad in PreWarCar for an MG K3 BTH Magneto. About a month passed and I got an email on similar lines to yours - I asked for photo's and asked a few technical questions + part no. stamped on the body of the magneto and the person disappeared, obviously out of his depth and was trying his luck. Not sure if it was on this site, but read a humorous story on the lines of a chap who had posted a wanted ad for some con rods for a Twin Cam, he got a quick reply from the 'seller' to say that he had just what was needed. Suspecting something was not quite right the chap asked the seller if the con rods were the genuine timber ones to which the seller answered, yes indeed they were.... |

I had to smile when I read the blurb about "Most fraud attempts are written in bad English".Well,by that logic so much of the the MG Enthusiasts BBS must be fraudulent. The fact is the 'Net has exposed the truly dire level of the command of the English language ,especially in England many of whom are clearly illiterate. The really sad thing is they don't even realise it.So much for over 150 years of universal education in GB. Text gibberish anyone? Your esteemed servant, Moses Bumjokwai (c/o Lagos Labour Exchange) |
