MG MGA - Dynamo
Restoring my dynamo. Checked field coil resistance disassembled - 6.0 ohms, OK. Rechecked it assembled - 3.0 ohms ! What has gone wrong, if anything? |

Shorted to ground on the wire running between the field windings? |

Probably insulation on field coil wires is bad and contacting case and shorting out part of the coil when assembled. |

OK!! Shorting out between the long clamping bolt and the wire between the 2 coils. Need some insulating tape! Thanks |

Now fixed. When I test run the motor, the dynamo will be turning, but not connected to control box etc. Is this liable to damage it? |
Art Pearse |
Dynamo will not be damaged if it is disconnected from the wiring harness. |
