MG MGA - exhaust manifolds

Hi, I am intending to replace my 1600 engine with a big bore MGB engine. Will a 3 branch MGB exhaust manifold fit/ be made to fit? What do other people do?

Thanks

I think most people keep the MGA manifold although it is a little restrictive at higher rpm.

The other alternative is something like the Maniflow system, depending on how well you want the big-bore engine to breathe and how deep your pockets are.

On a LHD car it fouls the steering column, and I believe the exhaust angle also fouls the toeboard rails

Hi Dominic,

I have a Maniflow system for my LHD 1600 with an 18V engine. Do you mean that this will be hard to install due to lack of space?

Glad I picked up this thread as my Twin cam has a B engine and it needs a system. Although the B 3 branch manifold will, it seems fit a RHD A, there is a problem with the clearance / angle to clear the toe board cross member.
http://www.maniflow.co.uk/index.php?view=product&from=169&product=1184 although for the A engine, it will fit (I’m told) the B head. The picture of it does look as though it has the correct bend in the separate extension pipe for joining a cut down standard A system.
Incidentally the Maniflow one looks the same as the one sold by Moss but a lot cheaper. Any other ideas welcome.
