MG MGA - fan override switch
I have a kenlow fan fitted with a thermostat and I would like to fit an override switch so that I can activate it to avoid any possible overheating problem that may occur in summer jams, can anyone tell me how to wire it please, many thanks Vin |

Hi Put a switch across the terminals of the thermostat. In the normally open postion of the switch the thermostat will turn on the fan. If you close the switch it will take the thermostat out of cicuit and bring on the fan. Barry |

Vin, You may want a switch with a light in it to show when it is "on". Had a friend who returned to his B to find a flat battery. His wife had knocked the switch with her knee as she got out, and the fan ran until the battery died! Peter. |

If you want to get fancy you could wire a relay with the 'switched' side in series with the thermostat override switch. Connect the 'control' side of the relay to the circuit powered by the ignition switch. That'd eliminate the situation Peter mentioned as the relay would be switched off, cutting power to the bypass switch, when the ignition key is turned off. |

Hi Vin, This link might be useful - saw it on the spridget forum where there was a similar question http://www.series2club.co.uk/gallery/diagrams/images/rad_fan.jpg Good luck Graham |

Thanks for all the advice, when I looked at the thermostat it turned out that there was actually a fan over ride option |
