Great drama for a great car!

Notice that it has no finishing strip below the doors!
Just saying, Barry.

I noticed this topic on the MGE forum (PERFORMANCE section)last week and I posted this.

Re: Latest trailer of movie "Ford v Ferrari"#8

"This story has just reminded me about the fantastic book I have just been re-reading about the Le Mans Class Winning Twin-Cam, SRX 210, driven by Ted Lund and Colin Escott in 1960.

The book is called "Pay-it Yourself" edited by George Dutton and tells the story of this small team of enthusiasts from the MG Car Clubs North-West Centre who, at their own expense, entered the famous SRX 210 in the Le Mans 24 Hours from 1959 until 1961. Incredibly, they won their class in 1960.

It is a fantastic story and well documented in the book with lots of photographs and press clips etc.

I think this "giant-killing" story also would make a fantastic basis for a motor racing film. It has all the ingredients, a true story, excitement, disappointments and best of all how a small team with limited funding, perseverance and sheer hard work, beat the works teams against all the odds.

You never know, maybe some film producer out there will read it and agree with me."

(apologies if the pic is inverted, I have recopied the pic, inverted it and saved it both upside down and the right way up, but whatever I do, it still uploads upside down! Sorry)

LOL I noticed the finishing strip too! Shhh! Dont tell anyone!

The other thing was the chrome wire wheels...could you get those way back then? I thought those were always an aftermarket option.

Forget all these little "irregularities" in the film. Most famous films have all had people find things that are not correct to the period!
Gary Lock

Given the provenance of SRX210's body, it's not really surprising that it lacks the finishing strips found on the production cars.

Yesterday Darren of Darrens MG Service, Chatsworth, CA stopped by my winery with some mutual friends to taste wine and check out my MGA's. He is the guy that built the MGA's in the Ford Vs Ferrari film.
We had a great chat, he has been in the MG repair business for over 35 years, knows his stuff.

Saw the movie a few nights ago and also enjoyed it.

Of special interest is the fact that Ken Miles (with Johnny Lockett) drove the number 41 car EX182 for the MG Works team that achieved 12th place overall at the 1955 Le Mans race. They averaged 86.17 mph over 248 laps.

Just released on Netflix downunder is the documentary Shelby American. 1hr 58 min. Shows a few MGAs and Shelby winning his first race in an MGTC as well as Cobras, Daytonas, GT40s (plus 10 wives and a heart transplant)!

I just got back from seeing the film and it was excellent, great acting, great story and great cars, loved it.

Without wanting to unfold the theme and because of the different title of the film in Spain I started a separate theme "Le Mans 66". Sorry, continued here. As I say there, the film is spectacular and I felt very pleasant to find a start surrounded by MGAs. Please Stuart, perhaps you can inform yourself through Darren if the windscreens of the blue MGA are of the time or a current invention because it is the first time I see them.
