MG MGA - From Glenn

Hi folks. It has been about 11 months since my wife Jennifer was killed in a car accident, and my sister severely injured in the crash. The accident has traumatically impacted my life and those of my family, Regrettably, I remain emotionally messed up as a result, but have been trying hard to come to terms with the accident and the traumatic loss i have suffered. To that end, I have written a poem, and hope that posting it here, among my MG friends will perhaps help me to heal. I will perhaps start making occasional posts again on this website again, to try and rekindle my interest in something. Here is my poem:

The Love of my life Jennifer, died in a car wreck
On highway ten near Magog Quebec
August thirteenth two thousand and seven
My precious Jennifer was called to heaven
She used to look forward to our daily MG ride
It is horrible that she so tragically died
The car rolled over when it crashed
Passenger side windshield was completely mashed
My Cousin Barry, pale and shaking, came to my door
One quick glance and I knew Jennifer was no more
Was told that Jennifer's neck had been broken
I knew she was dead before the words were spoken
Went to the morgue and stoked her cold ashen face
Was given her personal effects and packed suitcase
She loved our MGA, the cornering, the speed
Her loving spirit, our drives seemed to feed
She was a country girl, loved animals and trees
Marvelled at simple things, like honey bees
She had a special feel for our MGA
She loved that car, the fields, the hay
Every day I miss her terribly, that is painfully true
Without her I honestly dont know what I will do
I know that I need to move on with my life
And come to terms with the loss of my wife
For she is dead, and thats a fact
But our relationship never lacked
For caring, respect, concern or love
I hope she is resting in Gods arms above

Great to hear from you Glenn.
Being able to talk about your loss like that in a poem is the start of looking ahead. Welcome back to the fold.

Now get out for a drive in the MGA before the snow arrives!

Cheers

Great to hear from you Glen. We wish you well in your healing process. You will likely never recover completely from such a loss but I hope you can focus on the time you shared together over all else. Best wishes.

Fanatastic to hear from you again Glenn - time is great healer they say and your poem brought a lump to my throat thinking about your great loss. So good to hear that you are feeling well enough to write the poem . As Steve says - let us know when you feel up to driving the A again - all the best - you are in our thoughts - Cam

Hi Glenn, it's good to have you back here!

Hi folks, Thanks for all the kind words and heartfelt encouragement. This tragedy has been one of the most difficult and painful challenges I have ever faced in my life. It is nice to know that I have so many good friends here that care! While I have been driving my MGA, a bit, doing so has been bittersweet, since it brings back so many memories of Jennifer. We drove in that MGA together for 24 years, and I miss here intensely. Until one loses a spouse, I think it is impossible to fully understand how profoundly painful such a loss is. At any rate, I have been driving my MG, and have been working on it a bit to keep it in good running order. The bodywork that I had started just before Jennifer's death is on hold until I feel well enough and strong enough to complete the work. My posts may be sporadic for a while, but I am starting to read the postings here on a more frequent basis. Again my thanks to everyone here who have been so supportive. Glenn
