Gene, I guess you haven't tried it for body fit yet? I'd be interested in your comments after it is fitted. Also is the surround plated steel or brass? I guess the slats will be stainless..............Mike |

Mike, Haven't tried it yet for fit, need to have some work doe on my A/C (it's a coupe) and taking the the grille shell out opens it up a bit more to get to things. It's plated brass...not sure about the slats but it's definitely heavier than the one that came out. |

Big mistake people make is to leave the new grille sitting in a box while they get the car repainted. The grille shells rarely fit perfectly on a new car that had ever been hit and the chance that an after market shell will fit perfectly is around zero. They need to be custom fitted to the car before paint. Can't bend the plated grille shell too much, so a bit more or less of filler on the body usually gets everything where it should be. |

Bill, The car's a driver (re: a/c) so no paint/bodywork intended. Hopefully it'll fit...still getting the a/c worked on. Gene |

My new grille which I bought about 30 years ago has never fit correctly. Those were the days when I was completely naive about repro. parts thinking that they would be better than original. I even sold the original brass grille that was on the car because the chrome plating was a bit tired.
The problem with the repro grille was that the curvature was not right and when fitted the top left and right hand edges did not meet the body and therefore would not hold the piping in place. I eventually cured this by soldering brass 4BA screws to the back of the grille at the top right and left hand edges after first grinding away the chromium plating. I drilled corresponding holes in the body just behind the grille. This has worked well but it means there are more nuts to undo before the grille can be removed. This is why I was interested in the SF grille wondering whether these were produced from tooling commissioned by Cecelia to give a close fit. I hope you'll keep us posted Gene....................Mike |

Mike, Will do...still waiting on the a/c shop to give me a call that the car's ready to pick up. Gene |

Better hope it fits. Ask about peoples experiences on SF returns will get more comments than asking what oil to use ;) |

Actually the grille is the perfect part for SF to sell, because nobody expects it to fit anyway. -Del |

Possibly sourced from Jaguars by George (same price). He lists on ebay. Mine fit like a glove and looks terrific. |
