MG MGA - Handbrake

Hi

In the rear axle, where the handbrake cable levers(lh of the rear axle) meet the rear axle, In the bracket of the rear axle is there a thread, or is the fulcum pin secured only by the self locking nut.
thanks

It has a thread

I don't recall if the welded axle bracket is threaded or has a plain hole. But for sure the stud is threaded on both ends with a shoulder in the middle, and is secured to the axle bracket with a flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut. See here:

HI Barney

Yes i saw that, but was wondering if there is a tread in the bracked also, dominic says yes, maybe someone else has laying a rear axle around and can check it.

The bracket definitely has a thread in it. I made the mistake of not expecting the threaded fit and had to replace the stud and damaged the thread in the bracket slightly. Very annoying especially since I had taken it all apart many years ago with no problems.
