MG MGA - Head rest/ Head restraint

I've been reviewing for a while the possible options for making my Coupe a little bit safer for the occupants and I've just retrofitted these head restraints that came from Germany. They just slip over the existing seats and although generic items for classic cars they fit the MGA seats pretty well. I know they aren't going to be as good as a modern car head restraint but better than nothing at all? What do folk think? I searched the archives on this subject and there was surprisingly little. They are not fixed at all and so the "original" arrangement can be reinstated in a matter of seconds. Regards. Tim

I think they look really good. Nice addition.
Do they make the seats more/less comfortable or is it just an added safety benefit?
I guess they do them in black too?

Graham. Thanks. I took it for a run today of around 50 miles and I would say that the headrest actually makes the journey more comfortable as it works a bit like a back support too. My passenger felt the same. They do them in a large variety of colours and black is definitely one of them. Tim

They look like SJS headrests:

Here is the link to the ebay shop I bought the headrest from: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_blrs=recall_filtering&_ssn=platin-carparts&store_name=platincarparts&_oac=1&_nkw=headrest

There is another German ebay Company, SJS-Car Styling, who seem to sell the identical item. I went with Platin Car Parts as their customer feedback seemed more favourable.

I couldn't find any other suppliers who sell these items new. You might be able to find a used/vintage item on an auction website but the prices are pretty steep as they seem to be in quite a lot of demand.

Hope this helps. Regards. Tim
