MG MGA - Heater blower switch

Silly question I know,

but it the screw which secures the blower switch knob(letter B on it)to the heater control, a self tapper or is it threaded?

If threaded does anyone know what the thread is?

It is threaded, but no idea of the dimensions

Hi John
I thought I knew the answer to this but on checking a spare switch it appears this has stumped me too. The size appears to be midway between a 1/8" Whit and a 3/32" Whit - can you get 7/64"?

Best wishes

I lost mine, and ended up re-tapping the hole, 4-40, and used a screw that I had...worked fine.

John,

I had a look at mine and it is a 1/4" 4-40 UNC screw with fillister head. I don't think the screw is original and I was surprised it wasn't something like 6BA which is about the same diameter but too fine a thread. If you decide to tap the hole to 5BA I can send you a couple of 5BA screws if you don't have any.

Have you noticed the T-shaped hole in the knob as if originally there might have been a captive nut on the top of the lever? ......................Mike

Thanks everyone for your response.

Really wish I hadn't lost the original screw, but I can re tap the hole if necessary.

Mike, thank you for the offer of the BA taps, luckily I have a set already.
