MG MGA - heater cable knob spring clip + pin

Hi guys - my heater knobs are slipping off their cable end because the spring clip and pin are worn out. I have tried fabricating the spring and pin a few times without good success. Would anyone know where I could find a pair of used heater knobs/cables - perhaps i could scavenge them off an old pair? or know who might sell them? It looks like the part dealers do not include that spring clip/pin assembly from the look of the pictures - or am I wrong on that? - has anyone bought a heater cable from moss or vic brit lately and seen the clip/pin attached? thanks much

spoke with moss this morning; appears knob is permanently attached to cable these days so $46 buys you a cable and knob for one of the heater cables. If anyone has an old set of heater cables with knobs still attached, i'm a willing buyer - I might just use apoxy to do my own permanent modification if i acnnot find the clip+pin ...thanks

Are the springs and clips the same as the for the other knobs on the switches? I have seen two different springs and pins on the switches. One has a separate bent spring fitted in a flat recess in the switch shaft and small dowel pin. The others have an internal spring (not sure how) in the shaft. You can pick up old switches on ebay.

Since he heater knobs are attached to the cables why not just JB Weld yours to the cable? Then they wont come off. I think all replacement knob/cables come as an attached assembly.

I assume you are talking about the Air and Demist Knobs and cables. I hope I understood your question.

As John says, or, The Roadster Factory makes their own cables to original specs, only for Triumph but I'll bet the mechanisms are the same. Maybe the cable/knob as well. Or you can drill and tap the shaft for a small screw.
It is perhaps more likely that what is worn out is the hole in the knob into which the pin engages.

Just find an old electrical switch and use the pin and spring from that

good suggestions; Thank you all. John, the two heater cable knobs and their clip/pin assemblies are a bit different i think from the regular dash knobs. The clips are spring clips that seat into the ends of the cable. There is a cut-out for them. I have tried fabricating my own, but both times aftr they initiall work, the spring loses its tension. Yes, i could epoxy them right on the shafts as is now done by the part manufacturers.
