MG MGA - Help: Mesh grille for an MGA?

Hi guys,

I've seen a couple of MGAs with chrome wire mesh in the grilles instead of the usual slats. I think that looks pretty cool and racey (apologies to purists, etc.), but I can't seem to find a source for the mesh. The owners both bought the cars like it, so they couldn't help.

The mesh looks a bit like the "chicken wire" grilles on a Bentley.

Does anyone out there in MGAland know of a supplier of wire mesh (preferably UK)?

cheers,

Grant :-)

Grant, you should have a major hardware supplier over there similar to our McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/
They should carry wire mesh in several different materials and mesh sizes. It's generally used for industrial screening and filtering applications.

I think I have seen some in B&Q of all places.

The Alloy Valance in that photo looks good too, but I did not see that available on their web site.

I think that's made by Metal Mick, but it's not on his web page either.

Anyone know who sells that?

Cheers

Cheers guys!

£58? - I might try B&Q first.

I contacted the MGOC, and the valance is available on special order only as these are handbuilt and take approx 8 weeks from date of order. This is priced at £340.00 inc vat, plus delivery.

Might be worth trying Metal Mick, see if he can do a platinum plated one for less and less time, as being the recipient of some of his handiwork, I'm sure there is nothing he can't do briliantly when it comes to metal.

Cheers again,

Grant :-)

Metal Mickey does the front valance in alloy and probably that is where the MGOC get their supplies from.
I would also think that metal mickey would do the mesh grill as well.
