MG MGA - Holes in dash
I am currently rebuilding the dash on my '58 coupe. The previous owner made a number of modifications to the dash including fitting an MGB rev counter, an MGB speedo, additional gauges and switches etc. However, when I removed the vinyl and cleaned up the dash, I found what look like two original 1/8th inch dia holes in the front of the dash - one just below the radio aperture, and one in line with this hole below the map light switch, ie, about 10 inches apart and the same distance from the bottom of the dash. Has anyone seen these holes before, and have any idea what they are for? They are the same size as the 21 holes in the dash bottom edge for the rivets for fitting the SS trim piece. Peter. |

Grab handle? |

Too small (1/8 ") and too far apart, but a good first guess. Peter. |

Sounds like someone pop rivetted a badge or something to the dash at some point, Peter. |

Yeah, one long badge or two small ones. |

As Marvin said, a grab handle is quite likely as the coupe doesn't have the windsreen grab handles. See the image from this month's "Safety Fast".

You could fit one of these with 1/8" screws, might pull off though! http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=15653&SortOrder=1 |
