MG MGA - It runs for the first time!

A very satisfying day! After sitting for 15 years she runs like a champ!

A little rough for the first 2 minutes but then settled into a nice idle. She sounds better than my Miata. I don't think I am going to need to fiddle with the carbs at all, at least not right away.

After about 10 minutes it got hot as a pistol but I have not touched the cooling system at all. I figure a new thermostat and a flush and fill and I should be good.

There is plenty left to do to before I even consider driving it but there is lots of winter left to play in the garage.

Thanks to the many of you that have taken the time to answer my rookie questions.

Next month I'm off to John Twists 3 day MG seminar.

I remember the first time I got mine running. It really is a great feeling...

Jeff,
Congatulations!
Just curious, what part of New York are you in? I live near Binghamton. We have a very nice club here. Binghamton British Cars (BBC).
Cheers,

GT, and you also have the Bingo Senators (GO-SENS-GO)!

Gerry,

I'm in Albany but originally from Binghamton. I get back to visit family often. I'll make a point to hook up with your club at one of your events.

Thanks
Jeff Bennett

Jeff,
FYI, our club meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Bulls Head restaurant on Upper Front Street.

Andy, we do indeed have Senators...eh?
