MG MGA - Judson Lubrication

Dominic....
Judson all working well here and giving me well balanced performance and economy. I have been using Marvel Mystery oil for the drip lubrication since installation..difficult , but not impossible, to get down under.
I also use a product called Flashlube in the unleaded fuel to protect the valve seats etc in my non modified top end. I don't know whether it does any good but the car has never had any problems so ...only potential downside if I stop.
I have been reading more about latter and it seems it is a good overall top end lubricant ..see site below ...( originally developed for LPG fuelled cars} ..and can be administered in 2 ways i.e. the way I have been doing( in the fuel ) or by a drip system direct to the manifold . Drip rate 8 to 12 per minute. They even supply their own design drip kit . So the obvious occurs to me. Why not just use the Frontline for both judson and top end lubrication from the judson lubricator .?
They are about the same price so it would half my lube costs. ..I can get Frontline for A$60 (Euro 40) for 5 litres. Any comments.....I also recollect you once mentioned you used a different oil.

Neil, Have you contacted Penrite? Right here in Melbourne and I'd be surprised if they don't have something special - and it could be cheaper! Call 1300 736 748
Barry.

I looked at their top end lubricationn fluid...a little pricier..Flashlube is an australian product I recollect ( bi/ut to get parochial..maybe not melbourne)

Barry..its made in Victoria and invented in good ole oz. ..and I thought w only had invented the two rotaries, the mower and the clothesline...seems to be exported worldwide.

Apparently MMO is a 10W oil with a few detergent additives. As long as the chosen lubricant has the correct weight and can be dispensed correctly (the sometimes mentioned Stihl chainsaw oil fails on this criteria in spite of being the same color as MMO), it should be fine.

I use 10W straight machinists oil, which I can get for 80USD for 20 litres. I didn't realize Oz is an oil producing state.....

Dominic. Thanks for info-.I did a little online research and came up with these figs..
Marvel is around 3w to 5w ..giving it a viscosity of around 15 to 20cst at 40c according to my viscosity conversion chart.
Flashlilube has a viscosity of 17cst at 40c.
Looks a reasonable fit so going to proceeded use Flashcube instead of Marvel and cut out putting Flashcube into fuel tank.
It will save me 1 min at the filling station as well ..wow

just found this Marvel property info. on a US Site..

Specific Gravity: 0.876 @60F
Viscosity: 10 CST @ 40 C

So it seems quite thin stuff..thinner even than 5w..it looks like 3w ) my figs in last post were for 5w ..not 3w)
