MG MGA - Length of middle wiper tube

Could someone measure the length of the middle wiper tube (if they have one sitting around, as difficult insitu). I have a couple of spares, but they seem too long to fit in the connections at the end of the wiper wheelbox.

No takers but you could get a good approximation by measuring the centres of the wiper holes in the scuttle and subtracting the centre to flange distances of the wiper boxes. I can measure a wiper box if you wish.

Sufficient to eliminate or confirm your spares.

The length of tube after flaring is 348mm. The attached image shows the degree of bend and by referencing the the straight edge the offset at the centre is circa 15mm.
Hope this helps

Gary, I have measured the tube on my car as best I could from underneath and it seems to be 346 mm.

Hope that helps,

I think there is probably some variance here. I put a NOS tube in about three weeks ago, and it is a fraction too long to be a perfect fit.
Dominic Clancy

Thanks guys. The NOS (?) ones are impossible to fit in the correct slots in the wiper boxes...or one end does, but the other is about 1cm too long. Barney says that the flared parts should fit in the outer slots. Looks like some cutting and re-flaring to be done.
Gary Lock

Too long? Bend it a little more.

I was taking a look at the wiper gearboxes under the dash yesterday when I measured the distance tube in situ and I did wonder if bending it would make it fit.

But the gearboxes would each then have to be rotated a little more to line up with the tube ends and with not much light and at arms length, I just couldn't make out if the mounting holes would allow for this.

If a little additional bend is not enough, then cut the end off and re-flare it.
