MG MGA - Loading photographs

Can anyone explain why photographs have to be a certain size to be loaded on this site? I'm a member of dozens of other sites, and there is no restrictions on those. I've tried to load a couple 2 days ago, and they will not. I don't know how to reduce the size on my computer, despite several attempts. Can the administrator of this BBS site bring it into the 21st Century? LOL.

Gary,
depends what your using for your photos but in your program there's probably something called edit or picture or something which will lead on to resize, and/or you can crop your photos to lose a lot of size and unnecessary image space, thus zooming in on subject and loosing unnecessary or distracting background. Save as a different smaller version of your original image if you want.

If you're using one of those i-cant devices then you probably have default setting of taking a picture of the universe to show a pinhead.

I've not had to reduce an image size for this site for a long time - but I normally use a small 17 year old digital camera for images.

Ahh Gary

Just answered you on the grille thread

The administrator is doing a fantastic job , just resize your pics ---- lol

OK, experimenting...hopefully this will load?

Gary,
yeap it's worked well done.

I can see you're using one those portable devices, possibly an i-can't-pad so as I put possibly set up to give far too much detail.

I assume this was just a quick pic to use as a test as having a large white (pale blue?) reflective area in bright light with dark shadows does give the camera a lot of work to do.

You can experiment with how much you have to reduce the size as it may not be as much as with this test.

I've downloaded and cropped the image a little and then increased the size to 145%, obviously losing some definition by doing so but I think you might be able to upload at a bigger size than this for a sharper image.

Gary, i use an iPhone X to take photos and store on iCloud with Photos - they load direct on to this site without any resizing needed (years ago this site was quite restrictive on size but it seems to have opened up in the last few months)

Linking to the carsales advert might be an easier way to show images of your nice car.

Thanks Mike. I used an Ipad, but have found out how to downsize after loading onto my computer. I still find it unusual that this website still doesn't allow larger pics to be down loaded unless they are down sized. I've loaded other pics on to various other sites, and no problems.

I imagine it is all to do with conserving space on the server, cost to rent space, advertising revenue, etc. This is a pretty clean forum without any overt advertising.
