MG MGA - London New Year Parade

Happy New Year everyone.Anybody watch the London New Years Day parade on the (usually awful) Showcase Channel this afternoon ? Featuring,wait for it,a white MGA in the parade of ex-police vehicles( TB reg ex Lancs Police I guess) and a red one from the N London MG club.Nice to see.

There's a black police MGA in Lakeland Motor Museum, 827 NTC (1960 Lancs).

Hi chaps - the red MGA from North London MG club was mine. We were asked a couple of months ago if we could provide 4 cars for the parade - so we had my 1960 MGA, a 1951 TD, 1966 B roadster, and a modern ZT. There was an amazing crowd for the parade, 4 or 5 deep, and all our cars attracted loads of attention. My wife watched some of it on TV at home, and said the commentary was absolutely dire - the commentator for instance thought the white police MGA must be from 'the television programme' - she assumed he meant, Heartbeat. Great that they do their homework!! Good event though, and as ever we were pleased to show our MG's.
I noted the new MG showroom in Piccadilly - things must looking up for the Chinese.

And here are both cars (the one in the Museum and the one on the Parade) together !

The car at the GT40 in Frankenmuth was restored by John Twist of University Motors and belongs to Mr. Geljack.

At this moment there are 2 more MGA-Police cars

undergoing full-restoration, 1 in UK and 1 in

Germany !!
