MG MGA - London Olympics

Just a note to watch out for a red MGA in the closing ceremony on Sunday (12th August). I will be in front of the Royal Box at 9.00 pm just as the Royal Party enter, then jumping out of the car to wave the Union Flag and sing the anthem!!

There are various vehicles in the opening sequence, including another two MGA,s a TA, a couple of B's and BGT's plus a few other classics and assorted vehicles. We've been rehearsing for a couple of months now, and from what we've seen of the show - it will be spectacular!!

I think you said at Croxley there will be an apparent traffic jam on the track, so make sure you have your attwood pump fitted!
Enjoy the event.

I'll have to reexamine my video recording, Dave, but I don't recall our broadcast here showing any autos below the Royal Box as Prince Harry entered. I did note a white MGA, a 1500 I believe. It must have been quite a lark for you.

Can't find your car David.
I've been looking on youtube and in the press.

Any photos you can share?

I found an MGB (attached) from here:

I took a photo from the telly while the newspaper-covered MGA drove by. Not too sharp a photo, but it was moving quite fast ;-)

You had to be quick to spot the car!! It was a fantastic experience - I've attached a couple of photos showing the car in it's newspaper covering with me standing and waving the flag) - and one where it's uncovered, and I'm sitting in the car with the white (newspaper hat!!) they provided. I've no idea why the director wanted to cover the cars.

There is also this view (or is it a Healey?)

'The vehicles began the show wrapped in what appeared to be newspaper clippings, but when the cameras zoomed in, the paper turned out to be printed with passages from famous English literary figures'
