MG MGA - London to Brighton run
Hi all, I'm driving from London to watch the cars go by in the London to Brighton veteran car run on 7th November. Can anyone recommend a good pub on the route? |

DJ I might go and watch it myself. Thanks for the heads-up. Never seen it before so I cannot speak with any experience. I have just been looking at the route map and it looks like somewhere between Crawley and Cuckfield should pick up most of the cars during the Lunchtime period, 1200 - 1400. The Red Lion at Handcross looks a possibility, but I say that from an internet trawl only. Never been there and never tasted the beer! This is the route I looked at: http://www.lbvcr.com/assets/2010_LBVCR_-_Leaflet,_DL.pdf Steve |

Hi Steve and DJ I'll be there too, but I will be following the cars on one of the doubledecker busses. Last year I was a passenger in one of the cars, atrocious weather and we arrived in Brighton as late as five o'clock. All the beer was gone! Rutger ![]() |

Hi Steve I think the two star cars from the film Genevive will be running Gordon |

Yes, both will be there. Dutch manufacturers are the favorite marques this year Rutger |

"arrived in Brighton as late as five o'clock. All the beer was gone!" Wait,is that even possible? :) GTF |

GTF - You obviously don't know how the Brits and Dutch can drink ! |

Hope the weather was better this year. We did the run in 2008, in a 1899 Wolseley 3.5HP, courtesy of the Heritage Motor Centre and arrived in Brighton in glorious sunshine. Managed it in 4.5hrs, including a breakfast stop. What a fantastic experience! Chris. Note. MGCC hats! ![]() |

This year's London-Brighton didn't go too well for me. On the Saturday night after the concours in Regent Street I walked back from the pub to my hotel, tripped over something and had a nasty fall in which I hurt my arm. Sunday morning I took the first train back home to Holland and in the afternoon went to the hospital, there it appeared my elbow was broken. So, now typing with one finger and certainly not driving the MGA for several weeks :-( Did make some good pictures though, see http://www.prewarcar.com/magazine/previous-features/ok-guys-ill-show-you-this-one-more-time-014608.html Regards Rutger |

Hi Rutger, sorry to hear about your fractured elbow - but let's just see your explanation - includes the words - "pub" and "tripped" - this usually means staggered due to alcohol - see my previous post about the Brits and Dutch drinking - QED - however - hope your MGA driving resumes soon - cheers Cam |

Hi Cam Yes, I expected a remark like that. However, I had only had one glass of white wine. Perhaps if I had some more beers I would have been more relaxed, which in turn would have caused an easier fall :-) Rutger |

Rutger Sorry to hear about the break. I presume that glass of wine was in your hand when you tripped? What a waste! Hope you get full movement back for when we next raise our glasses at Beaulieu. Cheers Steve |
