MG MGA - Lucas batter covers
Greetings to all and "Happy New Year"! Looking through the Factory Part Manual, Plate N, I'm trying to figure out how the battery covers fit over the battery clamps. Are the covers used as a replacement for the camping bars? Looks like the covers secure to the frame at the same point the clamping bar "U" bolts do? Also, how do the battery cables fit with the covers on? Thanks! |

The battery covers do act as clamps to hold the battery, they replace the original clamps. There is a side opening for the power cable. Seee attached photo and also the one attached to the next message. Mick ![]() |

Russ, no problem, you can get them in 1956! |

Looks like they are currently available from Moss Europe. See here: http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=4484 It is part number BHA4140 |

Thank you, Barney. The price puts them on about page 28 of my priority list! Neat though! Russ |

I've only seen one on Ebay in the last several years, but I might have missed one or two. I bet you have a better chance in a scrap yard, if you can find any. |

Hey folks, There's a seller on Ebay that has reproduced these and I must say they look very "original". If you type in "lucas battery covers" they'll pop up. $180.00 for the pair which includes the required hardware. A bit pricy but sense you can't find them anywhere, sounds reasonable. Cheers! |
