MG MGA - Maximum tire width
Hi, I just bought a new set of minilite knockoff rims and was looking for some tire fitment suggestions, as well as if I could get away with a 185/65/r15. Thank, John |

Oh Yeah, the rims are 15 X 5.5! |

I think you can run up to 195/65/15 with no clearance issues. There is a good thread on this with pics at the www.mgexperience.net site on the A-boards there. JIM in NH |

Yes; 195/65-15 will work fine w/out clearance issues. I had that size on bolt-on minilite wheels (15 X 5.5) on my MGA. Gives the car a mildly aggressive look and you'll notice better handling & cornering, though it'll take a tad more effort to turn the wheel at low speeds. |

I just installed VTO wheels with Bridgestone 185-65-15's. Look great, work well, and hit nothing. They are about an inch shorter than 165-80's so fender gap goes up 1/2 inch I considered going or 195's but was concerned about steering weight. Also, bigger tires are harder to accelerate and we don't have a lot of power to spare. Attached picture really highlights the added fender gap but it's the best one I have. Bill ![]() |

Is it possible to put Bridgestone 185-65-15's on a 60 spoke wire wheel? I'm up for a new set of boots soon so looking around to find an alternative to the usual Michelin XZX. Barry. |
