MG MGA - MG Live racing

Here is some footage of the MGA and T-types racing, but focus on the T's.

Absolutely brilliant Neil. I wasn't able to be there on the Sunday so it was nice to see what I missed, or was it? A big thank you to who ever it was who shot it and made it available, the quality and content is superb.

Who cares about correct lines, just make the tail hang out on the corners and have fun! Great video.

The film is brilliant. I was in the stands when what I think were Q-types raced on saturday. What a thrill. I could only be there for saturday but it was a well spent day. There did not appear to be a very good turn out of MGA's compared to the other types, at least on saturday. I wondered if there were more A's on sunday? Anyway, it was exciting to see it all, and I plan to return next year when I will have more time.

Good to see SRX210 racing. Must take a bit of guts for the owner of that historic and priceless vehicle to mix it in races of this sort. Great video.

That's just awesome Neil!

Thanks for posting.

Perhaps the camera position was misleading but it didn't seem that too many drivers were hitting their apexes.

I think I have a crush on that 20 car and 23 car.

What do you know about them. Certainly custom body designs.

Hi Tysen,

I didn't know anything, but after a quick search I can say that car no. 20 appears to be a 1952 MGTD Special. (At least an MGTD special with that registration plate raced at Goodwood in 1952 and 1953.)

More luck on car no. 53, the "1955 Parson MG Weldangrind Special". Raced without major success, it then went on to star in "Danger Man" a 1960-61 TV series. It was restored around 2004.

Here is more:

Regarding the racing, the camera angles are quite misleading as to where the apexes actually are. Most of the shots show the cars either exiting on the racing line or drifting slightly wide due to excess speed. A few cars did run a little wide due to caution or traffic, but all the racing was pretty competitive and certainly most drivers were tight on the lines.

Hi folks

I think, but am willing to be corrected, that no.20 is a Lester MG. It just sneeks in at 0:30 in the video I took of the XPAG Specials exhibition at Silverstone in 2007 -

There is a show of these cars in the paddock every year at Silverstone. The T-Type Register have a committee member responsible for the Register of the XPAG specials.

Car No 20 is the Dargue MG: based on a Harry Lester chassis with TD running gear but to the specification of Tom Dargue
