MG MGA - MGA badgebar ??

Hi All,

I've just bought at an auction(exhibition), this badge bar (see picture). I was told it fitted on my MGA, but I did not check it in the manuals directly. At home, it seems that it doesn't fit.
Today I've tried to find in other catalogues which type it is suitbale for. But I cannot find it. It is really similar to the MGA badge bar but the outer ends are twisted in an angle.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks Sander

Does not look anything like my MGA badge bar.

Sander, I have a "factory" (?) badge bar on my 1600 roadster. It mounts behind the bumper over-riders where the two outer "blades" join the curved central part.

Barry,

Thanks for your answer. I have a 1500 roadster and I have a pic attached of the outer blades on the bar. Can you confirm it looks the same as yours?

Thanks,

Sander

Sander, I wish I could send you a photo, I am an old bloke and have to rely on my wife for photos etc. My badge bar is simpler and has studs which point vertically down and go through the holes where the outer blades attach to the central bumper (behind the over-rider). There are normally chrome-plated coach bolts there and the badge bar studs do the same job. The shape of my badge bar may also be a bit different to yours, in any case when mounted it is about at the mid point of the height of the grille. I will prevail upon my wife to take a photo, I have one or two Netherlands car club badges (which you may be interested in and probably recognise, I obtained them nearly 50 years ago on our first visit there) on my car.

I have one for sale that was on e-bay. I'll post some photos. Tom

yup, its a badge bar or a grille guard, your choice of words. Here is the one off of my car

When installed it goes underneath and extends upward in front of the bumper. See picture.

Hello Barney,

Thanks for the pic. Yep It looks like I bought the one which should be installed in front of the bumper instead of behind what you normally see. Thanks a lot for all your comments.

It seems that I have to decide whether I will install it on the front or at the back of my bumper.

Thanks

Hello Barry,

Thanks for your comments. Thanks to all the comments I figured out how to install the badgebar. It is a rare configuration installing it on the front of the bumper. I will try it.

Regarding the car club badges. Can you figure out which car club badges it is. If I don't have them already I might be interested.

I bet it is wonderfull driving in your MGA in Australia. Probably a lot better then the wet and windy Netherlands

Best wishes,

Sander

Sander, Many thanks for your kind words. Still waiting for wife to take photo--wasn't home yesterday. You are obviously a badge enthusiast, I will keep mine (with all of the rest of the junk around here).
