MG MGA - MGA Coupe Headliner Pattern and Instructions

I just posted this on MG Experience and also sent it to Barney for his site. Look here at posts 12 and 13. http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?2,3408289

Hope this helps someone.

Hi Jim. What was the material you used for the headliner?

Thanks!

George, I purchased a pre-made headliner from Acme Auto Headlining, Long Beach, CA. The vinyl I chose is a light tan basket weave pattern. The color is called "fawn". I first learned about them from this article I found about restoring an aluminum MGA hardtop.

Here's the old article on restoring an MGA aluminum hardtop. This is the place I found the source for my coupe headliner.

That article is from Dominic Clancy's website, but I think it's obsolete?...Dominic?

It is a very old article that wasn't all valid when I restored my own Aluminium Hardtop about ten years ago.

AFAIK the linings from Scarborough Faire were wrong and of course no refunds. If I remember correctly I got my hardtop headlining from Bob West, where of course the quality is A1+.

I am thinking of selling my hardtop, which is complete and has all new seals. Anyone interested enough to make a sensible offer? It is finished in OEW not black. I also have the correct Weathershield sidescreens which were fitted with new plexiglass from Todd Clarke last year.

Something is not right with the SF headliner kit. I had one installed by a reputable shop and it did not turn out well. They told me it was difficult to work with and "there wasn't enough material". Have to start over now.

George,
I heard that SF's headliners did not have enough material on the sides when Cecelia first started selling them but supposedly fixed that problem. When did you buy it?
