MG MGA - MGA Coupe lower door-opening finisher
Coupes were fitted with an aluminium finisher which protects the lower door-opening Furflex door seal. I am looking for one for the passenger side. Presumably a good metal worker could reproduce in mirror fashion from the driver side part, but if I can get a new or second hand one it would be easier than finding a good metal worker! Cannot get the search system to act on anything sensible in searching the archives. Any advice appreciated. |

Rocking horse manure - impossible to find these. I looked for years till I found a pair. MGB ones could be modified to fit with a lot of work |

A further complication is that the finishers are stainless, not aluminium. Makes it that bit harder for your metal man to make a replica. |

Thanks for the replies - I rather thought they were unobtainable. I was hoping to be able to find and fit the missing one as I am replacing the carpet and they need to be screwed on before glueing the carpet on top of the flat section. Will try and find the article I had already read where someone(maybe you Dominic?) had converted MGB ones to fit, if they are available? - but would need metalworking skills. |

The best place to ask would be Metal Mickey sportscarmetalworks.com
Or maybe Gio Delicio could get some made (he makes the coupe window gears), but he had all he needed for his projects when I asked him - but he was the source that found me the LHS item I was looking for - he is a gold mine for things like this. If you find one, buy it, and then you can trade until you have a pair. But they really do preserve and protect the door seals from damage getting in and out of the car. I would only sell mine if I received a truly stupid offer! |

Try contacting Andy Jennings. I needed the one for the RH side and he happened to have one. Andy Jennings MGSPARES Telephone: 01489790611 Moblie: 07710138262 Email: mg@andyjennings.co.uk Website: www.mg-cars.org.uk eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/andyjenningsmgspares Jim |

Terry..."before glueing the carpet on top of the flat section". I thought the flat section was on top of the carpet, holding it in place...? George PS I have to do this soon as well, trying to understand what is correct. When is the Furflex door seal installed in this installation sequence? |

The fitting order is door seal, trim strip, carpet, so that the carpet hides the screws of the finishing strip |

Dominic is correct. I confirmed this with Coupe expert, Jonathan Stein before I did mine. Here’s what mine looks like. Jim ![]() |
