MG MGA - MGA History
As I just recently am a proud owner of an MG 1500. I have a thousand questions ofcourse. But the first thing a would like to find out is some history of my car. Can anyone help me with this. how many owners had this car and who did restore it, (the car itself and the motor) I have got the VIN number, but what's the next step? Thanks Second question on my mind. Where can I find more information about the tool kits for an MGA, are they still available and how to distinquish replica's? Thanks Sander |

Sander, What is the VIN and a general description of the car. Color, interior, etc. A lot of MGA's have been exported to Europe from the US and rebuilt there. The Heritage Trust would probably not help you much on determining a rebuild history. Jim |

Sander, As you are in Holland, have you contacted the MGA Register in Holland? They have a MGA Register and contact details. http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgarh/ Mick |

Hi Sander if you check Barney's site on this link should tell everything you need to know http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/tools3.htm it is quite difficult to tell some of the replicas from original, some even have the King Dick name stamped on them, the ones supplied by Clarke, and Iny Point are usually all replicas, a complete kit will be expensive, email me for more info Gordon |

Hi Jim and Mick and Gordon, Thanks. My car was produced for the USA market and I even have one document of one of the former owners; From the department of licensing of washington. can the list of owners be obtained from the local registers to learn more about rebuilt history? I'm from holland indeed and will get in contact with the MGA register as you suggested. Gordon I will e-mail you about details. thanks sander |

Mick, I checked your link of the MGARH. It looks like the news is rather outdated (2005). The VIN #: HDA4357905; colour is red today and one of the former owners is from the state Washington sander |

Sander, 57905 seems to appear on the list I'm looking at here: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgarh/register/list.htm But as you say I'm not sure when it was last updated. This is Barney's page on searching cars history which I helped put together. http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/buying/buy107.htm Good luck with your search. Cheers Mark. |

thanks Mark. That's a start. I will check the mgaguru site now. |

Sander, Darn, I was hoping against hope that this may have been the roadster I sold in 1990. The guy that bought it said he was exporting it to Germany. Unfortunately it was not, but the numbers were not all that far off. Mine was HDA4355037. You may be able to retrieve some information regarding the car from the Washington State Dept. of Licensing, www.dol.wa.gov. Here is a link to vehicle disclosure form, http://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/420531.pdf . Good luck, John |

Hi Sander Your MGA has been in Holland since 1995 at least. If you drop me a mail, I can give you a name of one of the former Dutch owners. Rutger |
