MG MGA - MGA rear clip needed

The rear clip on my 58 is just too rusted to repair. Surprisingly, the front is pretty decent. Does anyone out there have a solid rear clip they wish to part with? I live in West Michigan. Thanks!
Chet Harter

Not sure what you mean Chet, what's a 'rear clip'? Can you elaborate a little, or post a pic.

Frank,

Although "clip" sounds like something you could put in an envelope and pop in the post, Chet is referring to the rear half of the bodyshell! From the doors rearwards excluding wings and bootlid.

I don't think I ever heard this phrase in the UK, can anyone tell me the origin?
Neil McGurk

Chet,

if you are referring to the rear end of the car (as I think Neil is alluding to), then I do have a spare, only I'm in the UK. If that's not too much hassle, please let me know.

All the best,

Grant :-)

G Hudson

Grant,

Do you by any chance have a good front "clip"? I could use one!

Chet,
Check out Eclectic Motorworks. There is a good chance that they have one. They are in Holland.
Mike Parker

Neil, I 'googled' front and rear clips and it seems to refer to the chassis, or a means of fastening a bra!
Lindsay Sampford

Was that a typo Lindsay, surely you meant that you either "Goggled" or "Ogled" at the above mentioned bra?
Colyn Firth

Lindsay,
While I appreciate your humor, if you google "Front Clip Auto" or "Rear Clip Auto" you'll find a different result.
Cheers
GTF
PS: I do remember my first time unhooking a "Rear Clip" :)
G T Foster

GTF, I see, so it can mean the whole body as well as the chassis. So does the term 'clip' come from the fact that a piece has to be clipped off?
Lindsay Sampford

I actually had both a front and a rear "clip" in my garage here for over 20 years GTF (for a 1960 FHC) but unfortunately, after some professional advice I sent them for scrap a couple of years ago. The bottom edges were a bit tatty but otherwise not too bad.
I suppose a professional car restorer will always look at the time it will take to restore the body work as a major cost in the process. Whereas for a home restorer the time factor isnt so important.
I probably should have kept them!

Always preferred front "clips" myself Lindsay! :-)
Colyn Firth

Sorry Chet, I wrote GTF instead of Chet in my last Post.
