MG MGA - MGA rebound straps
Can anyone recommend a supplier in the UK for rebound straps that are the correct length, approx. 220mm or slightly shorter, centre to centre of bolts, and do not stretch in excess of 6mm when loaded. Thanks John |

John, I know these are not OE but I bought a pair for my MGA Coupe and they seem very strong and do not stretch much at all. This is a USA source but he will probably ship to you. https://sites.google.com/site/strappingladshop/mga-axle-straps Jim |

I used Strapping lad as well and very happy two years after putting them on. |

John I bought straps from Moss UK which were 220mm centres. Had to put 2 56lb weights and my wife standing in the boot to get them on, with original springs. Good results so far. Cheers Dave |

Thanks guys. Dave I've heard Moss straps were not good so I guess they must have improved considerably. Out of interest when did you purchase them? Cheers John |

John I bought the straps on 23 April 2014. I just re-read Barney's items on rebound straps, seems like Hobson's choice. Buy, install, hope, watch. Cheers Dave |

John I removed the RH strap that started life at 220mm centres. After about 18 months on the car, on its wheels, and 133 easy road miles the centres are now 223mm. It has 053 moulded onto the strap. Cheers Dave |

The straps look good until you lift the car with the axle unsupported. That is the only time you can observe the stretch, they then return to their original shape once the car is lowered. Consequently, most people have no idea that the straps are totally useless, which is how they get away with it. I contacted Moss and sent photographs of the problem and the response I got was that their competitors products are no better! |
