MG MGA - MGA Replacement Windscreen

I am familiar with the "competition windscreen" windscreen that is available for the MGA, however, I am more interested in something with the classic aluminum flange and more curved screen as shown below.

How would one go about getting something like that created for an MGA?

Sounds intriguing, but could you post a picture please?

Cheers,

Grant ;-)

Hi ,

I don't know if it's what you are looking for , but this is the picture of what i have done with a spare windshield frame .

It's a rough prototype for now , i have to rechrome the frame , making a better shaped lexan glass .

I know there is a place in USA , who they sell a brand new reproduction of this type of competition windscreen for around $2000.

I think mine will cost far less .

Thank's

Looks very cool! $2000 is just silly money to pay for a windscreen, but if a cheaper alternative could be found, I could be tempted.....

cheers,

Grant,

Having put a rod through the block of my MGA race car at Oulton Park a couple of weeks ago, I am returning the car to roadgoing condition and I have a competition screen like Jules' photo which I shall probably sell for considerably less than $2000!

The stanchions are polished aluminium are were alledgedly cast from patterns taken from one of the works Le Mans racers and bolt straight into the standard screen captive nuts with the original bolts. The screen is 4mm polycarbonate.

Those are indeed pretty cool, however, I'm looking to create something with a little more curve/arch as you would look at it wrapping over the body.

Mostly day dreaming, but I am giving some vague thought to doing some modifications to the front end to give the car more of a 1950's racing car look and not necessarily identifiable as strickly an MGA.

....here is the one I made for my B, its glass, and I made the wind wings for the wrap around look. I did something similar for my TR3

...good thing computers are a passing fad, cause I'll never figure them out.

are the photos coming thru?

I run a cut down stock chromed brass frame on the race car with a plexi panel in it.

Is this what you are after?

Bill Spohn

Wyatt,

That is freakin gorgeous!!!!! Can you manage a pic of it installed? I mean really gorgeous.

Bill,

Those are pretty cool, but I'm trying to achieve more of a curve than the flat standard A windscreen. Wyatt is closer to my vision.

Imagine this stretched across the entire car.

Then you wouldn't like my 'cheater windscreen.

The rules said that if you removed the stock windshield you had to run a replacement. They failed to state any minimum height for the replacement.

I got a lot of argument from the organisers as everyone else was running something equivalent to a half size cut down screen, but I got away with it until they changed the rules on me.

...T McCarthy...thanks....installed?? it's for my B, here is a poor quality photo. I assume this is what you meant by installed.
