Hi David. I have a 1960 Coupe which does not currently have seat belts so I am interested in your brackets. Can you please let me have more details. Many thanks. Simon |

Hi David, If Simon doesn't take your brackets, I'm interested. Alternatively, would it be possible for you to trace one and post a pattern or is there a pattern available somewhere already? Thanks, Mark |

Simon, Mark, Will get round to this later today. They came with my MGA from John Bray so maybe he knows where they came from? |

O.k. The three holes on the longer side fit the bolts that hold the rear wing on, one of which is in the boot, these bolts will need to be replaced with longer ones. The hole on top is for an eyebolt to clip the seatbelt to.

Very well made with no sharp edges

Hi Mark I developed some brackets some years ago. They were tested to failure in a University laboratory and I have them fitted to my car. There are a set of pdf drawings which won't upload here. Send me your email address and I can send a set of drawings. Here is a photo of the 3mm bracket design version tested to failure. John jh.francis@btinternet.com ![]() |

Here is photo of it installed in my car.

PS it has quick release fittings for the belts, similar to the MGB, so the roof can be put up taken down easily. |

If anyone has a tracing or drawing of this part, please send it my way, as I would be happy to post it on my web site. Email link above. |

Hi David, Can you confirm that these brackets will work with an MGA Coupe. Thanks. Simon |

I can confirm that the brackets David has available were made using the drawings supplied by John Francis. I seem to recall that because of possible litigation concerns, John only made brackets for his own use but generously shared the drawings for the benefit of others. As David has indicated the design allowed seat belts to be fitted without damaging the car and which would allow use of the hood with a three point belt rather than just a lap belt. |

John, thank you for that. XDG is running and and looking wonderful. Simon, if the coupe has the same wing attachments and a hole in the rear bulkhead then the brackets should fit, willing to send on approval if you like? Did anyone used to collect stamps and get them from sg “on approval”? |
David k Brenchley |
Hi David. I have just looked in my Coupe and can see no wing bolts or a hole in the bulk head so I think they may not fit. Many thanks anyway. Best wishes. Simon |

Mark, if you are interested? If not they will be on ebay next week. |

Hi David, My car is also a coupe so I will have to check for the appropriate mounting points. Please let me know how much you want for them (wellardm (at) optusnet.com.au) Regards, Mark |

The wing bolts are hiding behind the rear kick panel. |

It looks like the mounts would fit my car, David. I have the necessary gap in the rear bulkhead. Regards, Mark |

If they are available I would be interested as I am in the middle of changing my belts anyhow. Paul |

I think that these brackets would mount in a coupe using the same mounting points as a roadster. However, based on the picture of one mounted, it looks like it might interfere with the coupe’s parcel shelf. Jim |
