MG MGA - MGA side-screens

Hoping someone out there can help:

I have a new set of BMC Weathershiels side-screens still in the box never used for the factory fibreglass hardtop. I need a set for my aluminium factory hardtop which are different - anyone out there have a new original factory BMC Weathershield set for the aluminium hardtop but need sidescreens for the fibreglass hardtop - straight swap. Cheers, Peter.

I have the Weathershield alloy sidescreens which, if I understand Barney's site correctly are of the design which has a tapering bottom alloy edge (above the rubber strip that is) and he describes these as being for the alloy hardtop. Presumably yours are the other type which Barney says has a straight, narrower alloy bottom edge and would therefore suit my factory Universal Laminations hardtop. So, I do have an interest in your pair but am trying to find out if there is any significant difference in size and/or shape which makes one style any better than the other for each application. That is, does it really matter much from a fit point of view. Having spent some time making mine fit nicely to the door and windscreen I'm loath to mess about for possibly no real benefit in weatherproofing fit. Perhaps you might know the answer to the differnces between them?
Regards
Bruce.

Peter, After offering to buy your sidescreens, I did further research on which screens fit what,(mostly on Barney's site as did B Mayo). It's a confusing issue, but I finally concluded that my 1960 vinyl covered steel screens are,in fact, the correct ones for my recently found factory fibreglass hardtop. So I'll have to renig on my offer. Sorry and thanks, Bob Prentice

Hi all, posted a lengthy reply to all your postings last night but I don't see it here...lost in cyberspace I guess. Long story short, glad you are sorted Bob as they are not for sale, only to swap. The two types (factory issue)of ali screens are not interchangeable i.e. you cannot use the ali screen meant for the UL hardtop on the ali hardtop as it wont fit. The door and windscreen are fixed points on all cars (should be....) so both screens should sit ok in these two points but fit against the hardtop is different. The pics on Barney's site of the new boxed UL sidescreens are my own. Cheers, Peter

I have an original set of Weathersheild side curtains that were repaired and restored by Clark. I have a 1956 roadster and they really do not fit very good.
I do not know what hard top or year of MGA they are for. My work e-mail- tpeotter@oshkoshdesigns.com
