MG MGA - MGA Value
I see a black Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1957 has just sold at auction for £7.9m. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8057993.stm There is hope for us yet! Steve |

Steve - Does it look any nicer than an 'A' ? No it definitely does not. Do you want to join the set that drives out of a garage whilst talking on his mobile? - not me thanks Do you want to have every thief in a 100 mile radius trying to break into your garage? - no I'd rather have my 'A'. Oh and what's the Ferrari BBS like - not a patch on ours I'll bet = cheers Cam |

Cam Not sure I would be using a mobile phone while driving (reversing even) a car of that value!!! Steve |

Interestingly it appears to have the same tail lights as the MGA 1500. Does that mean our tail lights have just increased in value? |

Steve I think it is a good thing that MG prices are lower lately. This ensures people do not buy them simply as a status symbol but in actual fact the cars can be bought by enthusiasts whether they have loads of money or not. The Ferrari I am afraid is a far better car than the MGA, in every department. However I can not afford one because most are owned by people who see them simply as a status symbols and enjoy the attention such a car generates. |

The value will go down next year, when people will be able to buy Ferraris at their local Chrysler dealer. |

Personally I hope prices stay low. I bought my car 35 years ago not to make money or for an investment but as a hobby to enjoy. Its insured for what its really worth about 15000 Australian. We never will hit Ferrari or Jag prices or anywhere near that, The makes are not comparable or in the same league really, Triumphs or some Healeys are more realistic competitors in the value game. In Aussie the prices seem to have just about topped out (at least the prices actually being paid, not asked (or wished for)regards Mark |

Go to an MG gathering and you will find a mix of people of all ages because our cars are still affordable and driveable. Go to an "other" gathering and most folks are geezers like me. Few young owner/drivers. The "others" have become very expensive and are usually TRAILERED. If our MGs remain affordable and supportable we can continue to attact young folks to the clubs and activities. If the young enthusiasts are priced out, MGs will nolonger be seen on the road and the less costly rice rockets will take their place. Healthy clubs require new and young blood. IMHO! Regards, Dave |
