MG MGA - miles to km conversion NEW DIAL?
Has anybody recently converted a MILES speedo to Kilometres? I think I vaguely recall seeing an article on remaking a "stick-on " dial? - or am I having another senior moment? If this is the case, does it look reasonable, given that the old painted and printed face has a certain "lustre" or sheen that only that process imparts. Is there a source for Km face-plates or should one attempt to trace an existing Km unit? And does anyone in Oz have details as to where one can locate someone to repair Jaeger instruments and the like? |

Just divide by three and multiply the result by five. :-) |

MT I used a "stick-on" when we went metric in Aus. (1966???) but have not seen one since! We have a reliable instrument technician here in Ringwood, I will ask him about Jaeger after Easter and let you know. Barry |

The odometer needs different gearing as well, if you want that to register correctly. FRM |

Also think the tachometer needs adjusting for the gyroscopic effect of living in the Southern hemisphere.... |

"Just divide by three and multiply the result by five. :-)" Divide by five and multiply by eight! I think the metric system is taking over in the UK, inch by inch! Neil, so which way would cars naturally flow round a roundabout in the southern hemisphere? Sorry Mark, this isn't helping. I'll go and take my medicine... |

Mark, I have contacted Ringwood Speedometer Service (who have repaired my instruments in the past) and they are happy to assist you. They have an excellent reputation. Contact them at: 03 9874 2260 If I can be of assistance let me know. BTW your email address, as above, came back as not delivered. Barry |

Mark, In the last copy of Unique cars mag there is an article on instrument repairs and they mention a company called Automotive instruments reapirs, 03 9561 2366. They do print new faces on old gauges. But is this something you really want to do. |
