MG MGA - more wiring questions

My repro Lucas flasher unit does not have the three terminals labeled as B, P, L, as per the wiring schematic. The P is probably the front most terminal, which ones are the B and L terminals?

Does it matter which of the four green wires to the A4 fuse block terminals go to which A4 screw since they are connected together by that small "jumper" bar anyway?

Thanks again for any help, couldn't do this without you guys!

See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/electric/et104.htm

Check it with an ohm meter or continuity tester. The one terminal showing open circuit will be the "P" terminal.

Once the thing clicks shut all terminals are common (shorted together). When it clicks open, the B and L terminals connect the Load that will cause heating of the coil. I think B and L terminals are interchangeable like you can switch those two wires and it will still function properly.

For a replacement electronic flasher unit you cannot the swap wires.

What's the part number reference for the flasher unit?
Graeme W

Graeme, the case is stamped - Lucas Flasher FL5, with 35010A below that on the case.

One more thing - the terminals are screw terminals, not Lucar. Match nicely with the terminals on my new wiring harness if I only knew which wire went where!

About halfway down there is a 3 dimensional picture of an fl3 (not fl5) which shows clearly which connection is which. I would have thought (but don't categorically know!)
that the order of the terminals between the two would be the same but if you use the picture in combination with the test that Barney suggests that should do it.
Note that sometimes one terminal is marked as X

Graeme W

Thanks for that Graeme. I guess the continuity test is the only way to be certain.

Cheers, George

But at least you can check that the picture agrees with your conclusions from the test.
I'm suprised the base plate of the flasher isn't marked up.
Graeme W

yes, I would expect the base, or the case, to be marked with terminal designation.
