MG MGA - must keep doing the lottery
Hi all this looks a nice one http://www.thornfalconcarsales.co.uk/SalesDetail.aspx?id=315 gordon |

I'm not a concours geek, but the red carpet just rubs me the wrong way. |
Barney Gaylord |
Hi Barney I know what you mean easily changed though Gordon |

Almost $40K USD, though...wow. Very nice looking car - red carpet or no (which I actually like, though I'd put black rubber floor mats in to keep it looking clean). JIM in NH |

seems to be the going rate for A's from dealers over here good or bad, I would say this falls into the good category just based on the photos gordon |

I agree entirely. I saw a very average car for more money this summer at another MGA "specialist". Others are being advertised for up to £35k and appear no better than this one. Even Practical Classics price guide (who err on the conservative side) has £26k for exceptional cars and £20k for condition 1. Note that these are for the MGA Roadster and the corresponding coupe numbers are £18k and £12.5k. (Twin cam roadster £34k and £28k.) |

It does appear to be a very nice car, but it seems MGA fetch a somewhat higher price in England than they do in the US. I would judge that to be a $25K-$30K car, tops, in the US. Must be a Moss interior, waaaaay too red! GTF |

Hi Neil wish I still had mine sob, sob![]() |

Nice one Gordon - good luck with the lottery . It's exactly the same interior colour scheme as mine but I have the rubber mats as Jim suggests. The red in mine doesn't look as bright as that though - probably due to fading in the 15 tears since it was fitted by the PO. The price in UK reflects the rarity - only around 5000 of them over here - probably 10 times that in USA - but still too high - I blame the investment market. |

GT I have original seats, and they ARE a very bright red. Most of the modern one are much darker in comparison. Maybe the bright red is not to everyone's taste. |

Anyone have an idea what the coiled wire/tube is under the top radiator hose? There is another one next to the dip stick? John |
jbackman |
John, you'll probably find that the coil is for a automatic fan on the front. Kenlowe and others have the sending bulb inserted into the top hose, and leads to wherever the owner mounts the thermstat switch. |

Love that colour combo! I have one just like it;) It's pretty contrsting, but it is a nice change from the usual staid colour combos. |

This one on the MGOC site looks reasonable by comparison...

That car MUST be a good one Gordon. No one on here has 'taken it apart' yet, except for a slight grumble about the carpet colour! |
Lindsay Sampford |
Hi Cam and Lindsay it did look good in the photos especially as it is in black which shows up every fault, still clinging to tool kit in vain hope lol Gordon |
