MG MGA - New RHD Steering rack

Just received my new rack from SC Parts in UK..looks great, and boots included in price. As SC are offering FREE freight at the moment, the total landed here in Oz was A$270.

Is it totally new or refurbished? In other words are they now making new RHD racks? If so, the price looks excellent and should make the second hand market price tumble for this item.

With the US dollar at the moment we should flood the market with LHD MGAs and sell each on with a RHD steering rack.

Mark, Don't know why you mean by "cheap"..do you mean Chinese or Brazilian made? These new ones have all been thoroughly tested by UK authorities in the design stage, and are what modern vehicles use, in fact what the new MG's use.

Contacted SC Parts and the free delivery to Aus for $270AUS has passed.
Apparently it was an introductory price and they flew off the shelves. New price quoted is 250 UK pounds delivered to Aus.

Given the previous threads on the cost of RHD racks this is still probably not a bad price.

Just wondering if it is better to buy the new rack, given my current problems with my stiff steering, or pulling my current one out and investigating. Any thoughts as to the best way to go?

When there is serious money involved, as least take the old one apart for a look. It is likely (almost always) to be something simple, like cleaning and replacing the little rack damper pads.
