MG MGA - Newbie to this BBS

After 13 or so years with a 1961 AH Sprite I have recently bought a 1961 MGA Coupe Mk 2 and looking forward to both driving it and keeping it roadworthy. Looking forward also to contributing occasionally to the bulletins although I'm likely to be asking questions I suspect rather than answering! The car has only done mileage to the MOT garage and back over the past few years so will need to see what shape it is in by putting some miles on the clock.

Hi TJ
Welcome. Dont worry, I also ask more questions than I am able to answer but there is a really helpful group of very knowledgable people who give up their time to contribute and help.
In case you aren't aware, as MGA owners we are very fortunate to have an amazing knowledge bank set up by Barney, the MGA guru. Just google MGA guru and you will find thousands of informative pages covering almost everything you need to know.

Just a word of warning. Dont ask this forum whether silicone brake fluid is better than glycol based. It will start world war 3!

Really...I've been running silicon fluid in my MGA for 15 years...I didn't know it would cause a revolution!

Grahams right TJ! Good group here...Dive right in!

Welcome TJ

Thanks all. I'm just getting used to the car to find out what its like. Broke down (briefly) on Friday and found that one of ignition lead connections was loose. Replaced all the leads and spark plugs today and seems much better. All part of the fun! Driving the MGA is very different from the Sprite - much less nimble but fun nonetheless. Be ready for questions! Cheers. Tim

Meant to say that I have already found MGA with Attitude. What a fantastic resource for this model of MG!

TJ
Welcome. If you have anything where a hands on view would be useful I am just 'over the bridge'. By the way in late July the MGCC runs an annual Scottish MGA run, worth coming next year.

much less nimble?

Your not driving it fast enough yet!

LOL!

Thanks Paul. The July run sounds good. Hopefully meet up at some point. I'm in Edinburgh. Will send you an email offline with contact details. Cheers. Tim
