MG MGA - Nosepiece replacement

Hi there,
It is the first time I put a message on this list so if I am doing something not to the rules, I'm sorry. And by the way, my written English is not so good.
I am the proud owner of a rusty 1960 MGA 1600 wich I am restoring myself.Untill now I have replaced the inner and outer sills, lower parts of the rear inner fenders and the dogleggs.
Next challenge is to replace the ductpanel and the nosepiece. The old nosepiece is one big hole and you can detect the metal plate under the nose as the ductpanel because of the reinforcement cross in the middle.
I first replaced the ductpanel with the mounting brackets(body to chasisextension) as a reference, but when I am offering up the nosepiece(reference is here the frontbumper)the loweredge of air opening is 8mm higher then the surface of the ductpanel. At several photo's I think I have seen that the lower edge of the nospiece is at the same level as the surface of the ductpanel.
My questions. Does the lower front edge of the ductpanel lies ON the metal strip underneath the front of the nosepiece? And if you see at the nosepiece at the front, how high is the metal strip between underside nosepiece and the air opening.
I would be very gratefull with any tips.
MGA greetings,
Herman

Herman, I think you will find that the bottom edge of the grille opening sits about 8 to 10mm higher than the ductpanel. I would say it is correct.

Now I'm not so sure that makes sense. Look at the photo above, and you will have a better idea. This is an original one with minimal crash damage,so it should be correct.

Herman, I've just measured mine and it's 18mm above the bottom of the front of the nose piece. See photo.
Looks like you're doing a lot of work on your car and bringing another one back to life. That's great.

Sorry to all Englishspeaking members, the above text is in Dutch and it is just a question to Herman to contact me.

Hi thanks for the reactions.
Indeed the distance has to be about 18mm.Today I grinded the excess of metal and it looks fine.Even the grill lays flat on the nose now.The nosepiece is a bit to wide too so thats the next job to do.
So thanks again and I will be back in the futur with many many more questions.
Greets,
Herman
